FITNESS TO PRACTICE
Allied Health Professionals maybe deemed unfit to practice if:
- Practitioner does not have the skill, knowledge, character and health to practice safely and effectively.
- Practitioner’s performance or judgment is affected by his/her health which may result in harm to clients.
- Practitioner is convicted of a criminal offense resulting in a prison sentence. (involving violence, abuse, sexual misconduct, illegal supply of drugs, child pornography, dishonesty etc)
- Practitioner uses his/her professional position to pursue relationship of an emotional or sexual nature with clients.
- Uses his/her profession as a pretext to visit a client’s home in pursuit of personal relationship with clients relative or other family member.
- Uses his/her knowledge obtained in professional confidence of marital difficulties to take advantage of that client.
